The Worm Line Pleco (L305)
The Intricate Labyrinth of the Amazon
Introduce a masterpiece of natural complexity to your aquarium with the Worm Line Pleco, also celebrated by its designation, L305 (species Peckoltia braueri). Hailing from the complex, rocky, and fast-flowing rapid zones of the Rio Takutu and Rio Branco in Brazil and Guyana, this pleco is a visual enigma. Its light golden-olive to tan body is completely overlaid by a flawless, dense, maze-like tapestry of dark brown or charcoal fine lines. This stunning "worm-line" reticulation is so tight and continuous that it creates a hypnotic visual labyrinth across its entire body, including all fins.
Why You’ll Love the Worm Line Pleco
Exceptional "Maze" Aesthetics: The intense, flawless "worm-line" reticulation makes this L305 one of the most intricately patterned small plecos available.
Master of the Medium Tank: Maxing out at a mere 4.5 to 5 inches, they are one of the most practical and popular choices for medium aquariums where larger plecos would outgrow their home.
Outgoing & Active: Unlike some reclusive species, established L305s are surprisingly active and outgoing during the day, making them a joy to observe.
Relentless Substrate Scavenger: As a diligent bottom-dweller, they spend their day actively patrolling the substrate for biofilm, leftover food, and detritus, helping to keep your tank clean.

Pro-Tips for a Happy Worm Line
The Worm Line Pleco is a specialized omnivore. While they consume some algae and Aufwuchs, their primary diet should be protein-rich foods. They thrive when fed high-quality sinking pellets, frozen bloodworms, and carnivore wafers. Because they come from high-flow rapids, strong water movement and high oxygen levels are essential for their health. Provide numerous rock caves, ceramic tubes, or gaps in driftwood—as Peckoltia species require secure, defined territories within their favorite structure.
Aquarist Note: While peaceful with other types of fish, the L305 can be territorial towards other Peckoltia. Ensure your tank has plenty of distinct hardscape visual breaks and multiple suitable caves to prevent territorial disputes.
